What is a Steam Sterilizer?
September 29,2022
The steam sterilizer has the advantages of a novel and beautiful shape, reasonable structure, complete functions, rapid heating, thorough sterilization, etc. It applies to the sterilization of surgical instruments, dressings, glassware, rubber products, food, liquid medicine, culture media, and other items by medical, scientific research, food, and other organizations.
Principle of steam sterilizer
The damage of heat to the cell walls and cell membrane and its effect on nucleic acid can lead to the death of microorganisms, while damp heat mainly causes the solidification of microbial proteins, leading to their death. The pressure steam sterilizer is designed based on the principle of killing microorganisms with damp heat. The advantage of the moist heat sterilization method is that steam has a strong bactericidal effect. It can increase the water content of cell protein, make it easy to solidify due to heat and accelerate the death process of microorganisms.
Usage of steam sterilizer
- Remove the outer package.
- Place the sterilizer correctly. For the sterilization to work normally, the sterilizer must be placed on a solid horizontal surface.
- Add 3.5L water to the sterilizer. After each application, add an appropriate amount of water to avoid burning the electric heating tube due to water shortage.
- Put the prepared articles to be sterilized into the sterilizer. There should be a gap between bags to ensure air penetration. Close the well cover and tighten the screws.
- Check the type of power supply and make sure it is consistent with the specification to be used. Then insert one end into the plug of the sterilizer and the other end into the power socket.
- Observe the pressure indication or temperature indication of the pressure gauge. When the steam pressure rises to about 0.165Mpa, the safety valve will automatically work. When the pressure drops to about 0.142Mpa, the safety valve will automatically close to maintain a constant pressure.
- After sterilization, unplug the plug and stop heating. Open the steam release valve again to release steam, and only after the pointer of the pressure gauge returns to zero can the cover be opened to discharge residual steam.
